The Lurgi

essential oils Jan 22, 2019
The kids have the lurgi. Super congested, headaches, heavy bones, sore throat, nausea. While I love that my little fighters still wanted to go to school, I always hesitate to grab the Paracetamol first.

Our bodies are like the most perfect piece of engineering you could ever imagine. Everything works in complete harmony and a healthy immune system is very much capable to fight that lurgi by itself, although a little bit of natural help does not go amiss. A fever is actually our tool to burn up those viruses that attack our immune system. While just getting rid of a fever and super production of mucus from your endlessly runny or blocked nose, not sure which one is worse, may be very tempting in the short term, allowing our bodies to sort it out by themselves naturally strengthens the immune system in the long run and is the better option.

So back to my sniffling lot, we made a quick salve to ease congestion. QUICK is the word, ladies and gentlemen because I usually have 1 hour in the morning to make my bed, sandwiches, hot drinks and see the girls off before my first client arrives.

Ingredients for two little jars (I keep all my little jam jars, or you can buy little glass jars here:

2 large tbs organic coconut oil (the white, cooking kind)
1/3 tbs beeswax
Essential oils:
10 drops Eucalyptus
10 drops peppermint
10 drops lemon

It takes just a few minutes to whip up a super effective balm

Place a jar into a pan of boiling water on your stove Pour into a lip-balm container or a sample jam jar (you can collect these in any cafe), let cool for 15 minutes while you try to find the tissues.
Rub a pea-size into chest and throat every hour. Don’t use Eucalyptus with children under the age of 12 - replace with Melaleuca, 5 drops each instead of 10.
I diffused OnGuard every morning at home and they kept OnGuard touch in their school bags. Before they leave the home I draw a W for Wonderwoman on the back of their necks hourly too, and this is daily in winter, cold or not.
All the tools you need when your kids have a cold

I also gave them 1 each GX assist and Terrazyme to help the gut function, 1 each of the lifelong vitality program and their daily 1 chewable multivitamin for extra back-up.
